Wedding Checklist

 

Wedding Checklist

10-12 months
  • Officially announce your engagement
  • Find out who pays for what and start a budget
  • Create your guest list
  • Set a date
  • Choose your attendants
  • Hire a wedding coordinator, if applicable
  • Start thinking about planning a honeymoon
  • Visit and book ceremony and reception sites

6-9 months

  • Let out of town guests know of your wedding date
  • Send save the date cards, if applicable
  • Get in shape for your wedding gown
  • Try on dresses
  • Interview florists
  • Meet with caterers and get menu ideas
  • Interview photographers/videographer
  • Order your gown
  • Get ideas for music/bands/DJ
  • Shop for bridesmaid dresses
  • Book your honeymoon/flight/hotel
  • Book your DJ/band
  • Purchase gown accessories
  • Choose your officiant
  • Start thinking about things you want on your gift registry

4-5 months
  • View invitation styles
  • Get ideas for cakes and meet with different bakers
  • Shop for wedding rings
  • Order bridesmaid gowns and accessories
  • Shop for groom’s tux and decide on what groomsmen will wear
  • Place your invitations order
  • Think of ideas for wedding favors
  • Start your wedding registry
  • Choose your baker and finalize cake
  • Reserve all rental equipment (I.e chairs, tables, stereo, tents, etc.)
  • Book your rehearsal dinner location
  • Get ideas for wedding day hair and make-up
  • Give your guest list to your shower host

2-3 months
  • Finalize guest list
  • Finalize all contracts
  • Book hairstyist and make-up artist
  • Order your guest favors
  • Purchase wedding accessories (I.e. ring pillow, candles, etc.)
  • Finalize your menu
  • Find gifts for each other, attendants, and parents
  • Order tuxedos for groom/groomsmen
  • Purchase necessities for your honeymoon
  • Finalize wedding day transportation
  • Check your registry to ensure there are enough options left
  • Finalize rehearsal dinner plans and order rehearsal invitations
  • Mail invitations eight weeks before your wedding day

1-2 months
  • Have your bridal gown fitted
  • Finalize ceremony songs and readings
  • Begin writing your vows, if applicable
  • Begin writing thank-you notes for early wedding gifts and showers
  • Find out where to get your marriage license
  • Schedule bridesmaid luncheon and buy your attendants gifts if you haven’t already

3-4 weeks
  • Mail rehearsal dinner invitations
  • Pick up your wedding rings
  • Design and order your wedding programs
  • Prepare a must-shoot list for your photographer
  • Call guests who have yet to RSVP
  • Get your marriage license, usually no earlier than 30 days before your wedding
  • Research how to change your name
  • Meet with your hair stylist and make-up artist for a test run
  • Confirm your honeymoon travel arrangements

1-2 weeks
  • Confirm your hair and make-up appointment
  • Finalize your wedding day schedule
  • Confirm times with your florist, cake person, caterer, transportation, etc.
  • Pick up your bridal gown and make sure all accessories are together
  • Pick up groom’s outfit and make sure all accessories are together
  • Confirm final number of guests
  • Prepare the guest favors
  • Prepare place cards
  • Put together a box of all accessories such as decorations, guest book, toasting glasses, etc.
  • Pack for your wedding night and honeymoon
  • Finalize your vows
  • Finalize seating arrangements
  • Confirm date/time/location with all vendors

Day before
  • Rehearse ceremony with wedding party and officiant
  • Gather together your gown and accessories
  • Get all payments together for vendors
  • Get a manicure, pedicure, massage.
  • RELAX!

Wedding day
  • SMILE!  It’s your wedding day!

After the wedding
  • Preserve your bouquet
  • Freeze the top tier of your cake for your one year anniversary
  • Get your gown cleaned and preserved
  • Write and mail thank-you notes
  • Complete name change process
